Forklift Rentals: What You Need To Know

Forklifts are one of the most well-known pieces of equipment in construction, manufacturing, and other industrial industries. From warehouses and construction sites to unloading trucks and moving products, forklift rentals are a must-have equipment when there are heavy loads to move. Forklifts reach from floor to ceiling heights and trek across various types of surfaces. The ability of this machine makes it easier than ever to carry loads of all different weights and sizes.

Forklifts come in multiple sizes and have a range of specifications to fit the needs of any project. Some important things to consider when sourcing the right forklift rental are load capacity, lifting height, maneuverability, terrain, and engine type.

Do you require a rough-terrain forklift rental or an all-terrain forklift rental? Will the ceiling heights be a restriction? How tight is the floor layout? What distance does the material need to be moved? Consider your options and find the right lift for your project.

Two Types of Forklift Rentals

Two common types of forklifts of varying weights and heights are electric forklifts and gas-powered forklifts.

Electric Forklifts:

Electric-powered forklifts are ideal for loading and unloading, moving pallets, and general warehousing. These are a popular choice for indoor applications but have a shorter battery life.

Gas Powered Forklifts (Internal Combustion (IC) Forklifts):

Gas-powered forklifts are popular for outdoor, high-capacity and specialty applications where longer usage is needed and there is uneven terrain.

Warehouses: The Natural Habitat of the Forklift

One of the most recognizable forklifts can be found in a warehouse. Used to move pallets, reach top shelves, load and unload trucks and to transport materials across the floor, electric pallet jacks allow operators to safely and efficiently do their jobs. Also known as cushion tire forklifts, these machines are smaller and allow for precise maneuverability and perform well on indoor, smooth terrains. If you need a forklift for a short amount of time and want to rent, DOZR offers rates for daily, weekly or long-term warehouse forklift rentals near you with a weight capacity of up to 60,000 lbs.

Lulls and Telehandler Lifts

A lull forklift, also called a telehandler forklift or material handler, is often compared to forklifts. The differing factor when comparing a lull to a warehouse forklift is that it can lift up and out. For those tighter areas requiring material handling on top shelves or backward driving, this telescopic forklift model would be the ideal machine. Telehandlers are also powerful snow removal machines and are popular for rough terrain projects and for heavier lifting needs. If you’re looking for an industrial telehandler rental, start by looking here.

Other material-handling rental options include rough terrain forklifts to transport items on slopes and bumpy surfaces of outdoor conditions. If the project requires moving pallets on indoor smooth floor surfaces such as in factories, warehouses, or other facilities a walkie stacker lift truck or pump truck may be a more cost-effective option.
